Floaters are small dark shadows that drift and float around the vision. They are located inside the eye, floating in the central vitreous jelly. The sudden appearance of new floaters, especially combined with occasional flicking lights needs immediate investigation. Although rare, this can indicate a Retinal Detachment and need urgent treatment.
